J A Hughes have provided a legal service in Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan for well over 100 years now. The firm was founded by John Arthur Hughes who was also the Town Clerk in 1888. Rather unusually, his name has continued to feature on the firm's letterhead ever since, because he was one of the founding fathers of Barry and was always held in such high esteem.
The practice has throughout its history always moved with the times and has over the past twenty years expanded enormously. There are now six partners who operate from two offices in Barry and one in Penarth. In addition, there are a number of qualified solicitors, trainee solicitors and numerous other para-legals and support staff.
The firm aims to provide an all-round service covering every area of the law. "We have deliberately avoided becoming a niche practice specialising in only one or two fields. We are now large enough to provide friendly and expert advice on all legal issues, but not too large as to lose the personal touch and the need for continuity" said Colin Duncan, a senior partner.
J A Hughes are particularly interested in expanding the conveyancing section. They now have an impressive computerised package which allows transactions to proceed smoothly and efficiently, and also most importantly at a very competitive price. If therefore you are thinking of buying and/or selling, you must ring for a quotation.
With the house prices still continuing to rise in the Vale at a rapid rate, you may very well fall into the Inheritance Tax trap. Why work hard all your life only to let Gordon Brown take a large slice of your estate, instead of passing it on to your next of kin? J A Hughes have dedicated expert who can help you with tax planning, powers of attorney, wills etc Whatever your legal requirements, we aim to please. For peace of mind, contact J A Hughes on 01446 411000 or at Centenary House, King Square, or 19 Tynewydd Road, Barry or 7 Bradenham Place, Penarth.
