A NEWPORT man who was accused of allegedly raping and abducting a teenage girl is not to be prosecuted.
The case against Micam Roland Williams is being dropped after South Wales Police launched a hunt for him last September after a 15-year-old made the allegations against him.
She claimed she had been abducted from Splott and taken to a flat in Newport where she was raped and detained for 18 hours.
The police issued appeals for information about his whereabouts and issued his picture to the media.
Mr Williams, 32, was arrested in November at a flat in Risca and two days later appeared before Cardiff magistrates court charged with kidnap and rape.
Yesterday, a spokeswoman for Cardiff Police confirmed that, after studying the case, the Crown Prosecution Service had decided to discontinue proceedings.
No further details were being released.
