"THE MG ZR really hits the spot for customers when it comes to a performance hatchback with a pedigree sports brand. The new Trophy models give owners all the visual appeal of the high-performing 160 model, but in a more affordable package with extra features that increase desire," said Robert Hazelwood, managing director, UK sales and marketing, MG Rover Group.

MG is targeting the younger-aged market, introducing a pair of Trophy specification models to enhance its best-selling ZR car range. Combining the low insurance entry-model with the appearance features of the high-performing ZR 160, the Trophy models are likely to account for the majority of future ZR sales. Distinctive rear lamps, attractive allow wheels, side sills and rear bumper extensions distinguish the new Trophy models from the regular models and two trim specifications are available - the ZR Trophy and Trophy SE.

The ZR Trophy features 16" Gridspoke alloy wheels, side sills and rear bumper extensions, a CD tuner with six speakers, electric sunroof and a sports leather steering wheel and gear knob. The ZR Trophy SE adds 17" Straights alloy wheels, an MP3 player, air conditioning, Axis part-leather seats, and driver's seat height and lumbar adjustment.
