A MONMOUTHSHIRE village is set to get its post office back - in its local pub.
Tintern has been without a post office for almost two years but from Monday villagers will be able to get a stamp and a pint at the same time.
A new branch is to be opened in the Cherry Tree Inn, Tintern which already houses the village shop and a bed and breakfast.
Steve Pocock, owner of the pub, said: "This must be a unique situation where local customers and visitors can get three services in one building, however we see this very much as a service to the community and we hope they will come and support us.
"We are looking forward to the opening, it has been along time waiting but finally the village is going to have a new post office.
"We have been running the shop and newsagents since October but the post office is a new addition to the final package.
"People can get the newspaper, a pint and post letters or parcels and get their pension and use the pub if they want.
"They will be able to get everything at the same time.
"It will be a good village amenity so people don't have to travel to Chepstow or Monmouth."
Tracey Davies, who will be running the branch, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming new customers to the post office branch.
"We have installed a new fortress- style serving unit and we'll be able to cater for all our customers' needs - including Motor Vehicle Licences, financial and travel products."
