TWENTY months on from its launch in spring 2003, and fresh from celebrating 20 years on sale, Renault's flagship luxury MPV, the Espace, is getting even better for 2005 as a result of several range revisions and a new version to consolidate on the 12% rise in sales during 2004.
On sale from January 1, 2005, the first major difference and expected to become one of the best-sellers, will be the arrival of an all-new trim level, Dynamique, as well as better value and simpler ranges of both Espace and Grand Espace, including new interior trim, option packs and revised engine choices.
The new Phase One of the Espace IV has a lot to live up to in 2005. At the end of November this year, nearly 4,500 units of Espace, the luxury MPV, had been sold - a 12% increase on the same 11 month period in 2003 in a market sector down 2.6% as sales of major rivals like the Ford Galaxy, Chrysler Voyager, VW Sharan and Peugeot 807 drop.
The new Dynamique trim level gives the range a more sporting product with features that prove popular on other Renault models. In fact, the Dynamique trim is normally the best-selling model in other Renault ranges, combining sportier looks with mid-level equipment specification. The new Dynamique will be available in a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines (depending on model), including the 3.0 V6 dCi Auto and 3.5 V6 Auto which were only previously available on top-of-the-range Privilege and Initiale trim.
