MINI fans will soon genuinely experience what it feels like to corner on rails when the world's first Mini rollercoaster - the 'Italian Job Stunt Track' - opens in spring 2005. Paramount Kings Island theme parks in America and Canada will feature multi-million dollar Mini rollercoasters. The tummy-turning, final, high-speed scenes of the 2003 Italian Job film will be recreated through loops, drops and 90 degree corners at the theme parks in Cincinnati and Toronto.
Actors Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton starred in the film set in Venice and Los Angeles. Drawing its inspiration from the classic 1969 original, the 2003 version repeated that film's success with heroic Mini stunts and jaw-dropping driving scenes.
Now everyone can experience that hair-raising Mini action. On boarding the rollercoaster, visitors sit in a Mini 30% smaller than a working car and once belted-up the ride will go through tunnels, drive down stairs, dodge near-collisions and avoid explosions. Hollywood special effects and audio-recordings inside the specially-designed 'Italian Job Stunt Track' Mini Convertibles will recreate chase scenes as the cars race along the track. The rollercoaster finishes by splashing through an LA-style aqueduct.
