Cwmbran Town manager Brian Coyne has a new year dream - he wants the Crows home form to match their stunning away record.

And nothing would give him greater pleasure than a win over Welsh Premier League champions Rhyl at home on Saturday.

Coyne said: "Our away form is the second best in the league. Leaders TNS have a point more than us away from home, 23 compared to our 22.

"If our home form was anything like we would be up there with them. This is now a challenge for us in the second part of the season. Rhyl, the champions, are in town on Saturday and that is a game to look forward to."

Cwmbran's impressive away form carried on at lowly Llanelli on Monday, winning 4-0 against a side that had battered high-flying Bangor City 5-1 just before Christmas.

Coyne added: "It was a smashing win, just what we needed given our recent circumstances and bearing in mind Llanelli's result against Bangor."

Cwmbran suffered a setback when their home game with Llanelli was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch and everyone at the club was left feeling utterly frustrated.

Coyne added: "The first half hour at Llanelli was a bit scrappy - very obvious that we were in need of a game - but the last 15 minutes and second-half we were completely in control."

The Crows have played 11 league games away, losing only one of them and winning six, scoring 18 goals and conceding nine. A sparkling record. But at home there is little to shout about, one win in six outings and scoring only five times and conceding 12. Small wonder that Coyne recognises that it's about time his side turned on the home style.

Jason Welsh, who has switched from central defender to striker, is the club's leading scorer with eight league goals.
