A LORRY overturned on the new Southern Distributor Road in Newport yesterday afternoon, shedding its load of steel coils.
The HGV was travelling on the SDR towards the Coldra when the accident happened.
The incident happened at 1.45pm on Balfe Road, Newport.
Inspector Gareth Beak, of Gwent Police, said the driver was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with minor injuries.
The lorry was recovered using hydraulic lifting equipment.
Inspector Beak said it was still unlcear how the accident happened.
He said: "The cause is being investigated at this time and inquiries are ongoing."
