Wales flyer Rhys Williams has urged Mike Ruddock not to forget him, insisting he still has something to offer on the international scene.

Williams was the odd-man out on Saturday, not even making the bench, but he is desperate to show Mike Ruddock what he can do if given some much-needed game time against Romania on Friday night.

"It is never nice being left out and I'm not the best spectator at the best of times," he said. "I obviously would have liked to have played (against the Springboks) but Mike didn't pick me and it is up to him to choose the side.

"But I've been training hard and am raring to go and am just waiting for my chance and maybe with Shane Williams being injured I might get my opportunity."

Williams admits that Wales are in a no-win situation on Friday.

The last time they played Romania they ended an 11-match losing streak, putting 50+ points on their visitors. And Williams knows that whatever Wales do on Friday it will be difficult to please all the critics.

"We are in a no-win situation really, everyone expects us to win big," he said.

"But we've got to forget about that and respect Romania. They are improving all the time and have just beaten Italy so that shows how far they have come.

"So we just have to stick to our own game-plan and make sure that we are ruthless.

"That is one thing we have learned from the South Africa game.

They took all their opportunities and punished any mistakes that we made and that is what we need to do on Friday night."

Williams also revealed that despite it being four days since Saturday's game, Wales are still counting the cost. He said: "We haven't trained fully yet as a few of the boys are still carrying bumps and bruises from the game. It has taken its toll and we did a light gymnastics session yesterday which mainly involved stretching and we are gently easing back into it."

Dwayne Peel was Wales' star in Saturday's 36-38 defeat to South Africa.

But the Scarlets scrum-half is refusing to accept any of the individual plaudits heading his way.

"We are all in this together so I wouldn't really like to take any personal credit," he said.

"We lost as a squad so we will take responsibility as a squad and even though it was one of my best performances in a Wales jersey and I would rather play poorly and the team win."
