GWENT'S war dead will be remembered at services across the county on this week.

The Newport remembrance parade takes place on Sunday, November 14.

It will start at the Cenotaph on Clarence Place, preceded by a parade starting in Market Square along Kingsway to Clarence Place.

After the service, during which wreaths will be laid, the parade will 'march past' and return to Market Square.

On Sunday, November 14, at Glan-Y-Nant Memorial Park, Cwmfelinfach the remembrance service starts at 10.30am followed by laying of wreaths.

A parade and service by Risca Branch and Cross Keys Branch of the Royal British Legion will take place at the cenotaph in Risca on Sunday.

Parade to muster at 10.15am and proceed to the cenotaph for the service, minutes silence and the laying of wreaths. Re-form of parade to return to Riflemans Street for dismissal.

In Abertillery the parade will assemble on the Foundry Bridge at 10.15am and leave at 10.30am. A service of remembrance will be held at the town's war memorial on 10.45am.

Llanhilleth's parade will assemble at 10.30am at St Mark's Church to proceed to the cenotaph at Llanhilleth Institute for the service of remembrance at 10.45am.

The parade for Brynmawr will form outside the British Legion on Beaufort Street at 10am and at 10.30am proceed to the Market Hall. The service of Remembrance will commence at approximately 11am.

The Cwm parade will assemble at the Old Duffryn school site at 10.20am and proceed to the war memorial for the Remembrance Service at 10.45am.

The parade in Ebbw Vale will assemble in Bethcar Street at 10.30am and proceed at 10.40am to the war memorial for a service of remembrance at 10.45am.

A parade for Nantyglo and Blaina will assemble at Garn Road, Nantyglo, at 2.10pm and proceed at 2.25pm to the war memorial at Central Park for a service. After this, the parade will re-form and proceed to Blaina.

A remembrance service will be held in Bourneville Community Hall at 3pm.

Tredegar's service of Remembrance will be held at St George's Parish church at 10am before going to the war memorial at Bedwellty Park for the laying of wreaths.

In Chepstow officials say they are confident the cenotaph will be ready for November 11.

Work around the war memorial, as part of the town's regeneration, is near completion and officers from Chepstow One Stop Shop said they had been in talks to make sure the cenotaph is ready.

Armistice commemorations are set to go ahead on November 11 and 14.

On Thursday, November 11, at Brooklands Memorial, Risca, at 10.15am there will be a service followed by the laying of wreaths.

Also on Thursday, November 11, at Risca Leisure Centre, a Remembrance Day festival is taking place at 7.15pm with the Risca Corps of Salvation Army Band, Risca Male Choir, Ty Sign Primary School Choir and Armed Forces members, tickets £3.
