DOCTOR John Evans, clerk to Tredegar town council, sits by the bandstand in the town's Bedwellty Park which was attacked by vandals.
The wrought-iron banister on the steps were damaged so badly that the supports were wrenched from the sockets.
The cost of repairs will run into hundreds of pounds - money which will come from local taxpayers, said Dr Evans. The bandstand was recently refurbished to the tune of £100,000
