PINK Grease have added new and rescheduled live dates to their current UK tour in October and November.

The band, recent guests of the Blues Explosion, will play special all-ages shows around the country, including the Barfly.

The Sheffield six-piece, who recently released their debut album This Is For Real, are in Cardiff on Thursday, November 11.

This Is For Real features the singles Fever and The Pink G.R.EASE, and is said to be the soundtrack of the impending party apocalypse. The glam-blues band formed in Sheffield three years ago boasting an Afro and make-up that looks like it's been applied in a blackout between them.

They called themselves The Butts.

"It was more extreme in terms of glam and personal humiliation that anything we've done since," says frontman Rory Lewarne. "But we changed our name because none of our female friends liked it." They re-handled themselves after an old doo-wop record, the connotations of which suited their violently camp attitude.

They were and are influenced and inspired by The New York Dolls, The Cramps, and Roxy Music.

"The main thing at the beginning was just to get up on stage and be the most amazing, shocking thing ever. Sometimes we were playing to about 20 people, but giving them the best show they've ever seen."

Having earned their stripes supporting the likes of Ladytron they've returned from a whirlwind tour of Europe and their excellent first full-length album, This Is For Real, is selling well in indie circles.

However, it remains to be seen whether more than 20 pop Welsh fans will brave the cold to see them in Cardiff.

Be one of them on Thursday, November 11, in the Barfly, Cardiff. Surf to www.pinkgrease.com for more info.
