NEWPORT great-great-grandmother Kathleen Harvey can be forgiven for forgetting some of her grandchildren's birthdays - she now has 94 to remember.

It means Mrs Harvey, who is 94, has as many grandchildren as years. This week the family is celebrating their latest arrivals - another three great-great-grandchildren all born within five weeks of one another.

Mrs Harvey now has 25 great-great-grandchildren to go with her 48 great-grandchildren, 21 grandchildren and eight sons and daughters. Mrs Harvey moved to Newport from Cornwall during the First World War and married her husband, Albert William Harvey, who was from Pill, in 1931.

The new arrivals make Mrs Harvey's grand- daughter, Kim Ahmed, 49, a triple grandmother in the space of just over a month.

Her daughters, Lisette Bartlett, 28, and Seleema Ahmed, 21, and son and daughter-in-law Edrees and Kelly Ahmed, 20, have all became parents during the past five weeks.

"It is unusual to have such a large family but we are all so close. Becoming a grandmother for the first time is always special, but to have three grandchildren in the space of five weeks is something else. "It is great for Nana, she now has 94 grandchildren to her name and we are all living in Newport."

Mrs Ahmed, who lives in Llanwern village, said: "It is lovely having such a big family. We always have good fun."
