A 90-YEAR-OLD woman suffered head injuries after a collision with a bus in Cwmbran yesterday afternoon.
The woman, named locally as Frances Knowles, of Two Locks, was on her way to the Salvation Army centre in Wesley Road, Old Cwmbran, when the accident happened.
Gwent Police's collision investigation unit are looking into the accident, which happened around 12.45pm yesterday.
Jean Gillett, secretary of the Salvation Army centre, said: "I came out to see that Frances had been knocked over. She was conscious but she had a large lump on her head and was bleeding from a head wound.
"Frances is a lovely lady. She is a member of our Young at Heart Club, and had come early for choir practice when the accident happened. It's terrible. We were all very shocked and saddened."
The pensioner is not seriously injured but remained at the Royal Gwent Hospital this morning.
A spokesman for Gwent Police said last night that her injuries were not as serious as first feared and she was making a recovery in hospital.
Anyone with information about the accident can call Gwent Police collision investigators on 01633 643091.
