South Wales female-fronted punk band Sammo Hung may have had to postpone their new single until the New Year but they've bagged a good support slot under The Apes in Newport next week.

I Love the Leader won't be out until Monday, January 17, but the good news is they've had to delay it because they've found the cash to make a video.

Filming has been going well and it's coming together now in the editing room.

It's made by the same people that made Martini Henry Rifles' Infomercial, which is on the telly now.

The 7in is available to pre-order at www.thedudesabode.com which is a good idea as they're only pressing 500 copies.

The only other way to get hold of it is on promo CD, I Love The Leader / In A Fit of Something / Bat Squeaks, but there are even fewer of them in the same place.

Next up for the band is a short tour, including TJ's on Monday, November 1, after which they're back in the studio working on new tracks for a new album.

"You can hear the new stuff at our gigs," a spokesman for the band said. "Please come. Gigs are the best bit about being in a band. Get down the front and we get to lick your face!"

* As well as TJ's on Monday you can find Sammo Hung earlier, tomorrow, in Bristol Uni at an all-day event also featuring Do Me Bag Things, Chikinki, Geisha, Big Joan, Ivory Springer, at 4.30pm.
