IT'S not all gloom and doom, promises Newport Gwent Dragons captain Jason Forster as he leads his team into Sunday's crucial Heineken Cup-tie against Edinburgh at Murrayfield.

Forster admits the Newcastle result was a huge disappointment, but says a tough week in training will put them back on course for the next step.

"We didn't play well and there are not a lot of positives to take out of it. Our kicking game was dreadful and our pack didn't play to the standard we expect," he admitted.

"We have talked about honesty this week and the need for the pack to get a platform in Edinburgh.

"It was the first game and there's a hill to climb, but we will relish the chance to put the show back on the road. It's not all gloom and doom and we're looking for a result up there.

"It all went well at the start against Newcastle, but they capitalised on our one mistake and that proved the decisive score.

"We have got to do the basics right on Sunday and be a bit more clinical. We beat ourselves last week, but this time you'll see a more polished performance, and we'll give the guys behind a better platform.

"I think you'll see a different Dragons side in the way we play and what we do."

Forster dismisses Newcastle director of rugby Rob Andrew's dismissive comments about the Dragons.

"He said the same thing two years ago, but we beat them up there and trounced them here," said Forster.

"He can have his five minutes of glory, but we lost the game they didn't win it."
