NEW Welsh classical singer Katherine Jenkins has just released her second album and next March will play St David's Hall.

The 24-year-old school teacher hit the headlines earlier this year when she became the fastest selling opera singer since Maria Callas.

Next year she'll be the first British classical music artist to have her own show in Las Vegas.

On Monday, July 18, she's set to be the star of a classical extravaganza entitled Diva Las Vegas in front of 3,000 people at cost of $1m with a full symphony orchestra conducted by Anthony Inglis.

The same but smaller show can been seen in St David's Hall, Cardiff on Sunday, March 6, and the London Palladium on Monday, March 7. Along with special guest Ronan Tynan, she'll be performing with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Pretty good for a teacher from Neath. Early in her career she proved too much for Wales when, singing in Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, she hit the high note in O Holy Night and shattered a chandelier.
