NEWPORT County's Conference South game at home to Grays Athletic tonight is off because of the appalling weather conditions.
The pitch was already in a bad condition after persistent rain in the early part of the week and with rain falling in the early afternoon and strong storms forecast for tonight, County had no option but to call the game off and prevent the visitors from travelling.
General manager Wallace Brown explained: "Despite our desire to get the fixture played we had no option but to postpone.
"The rain has already taken its toll on the playing surface and with such ferocious storms predicted for the part of the country it is a case on battening down the hatches."
