LOOKING for an exciting, fun, educational and free day out for all the family this half term?

Visit Big Pit and experience what life was like for generations of miners who earned a living from coal.

Big Pit: National Mining Museum of Wales has a wealth of activities and attractions which will appeal to the whole family.

As well as the world-famous underground tour with a real miner, visitors can experience the thrills of modern mining in the Mining Galleries, visit the Miners' Pithead Baths and see the museum exhibitions which tell you all you need to know about the mining industry in Wales.

The Art Cart will be roaming around the Pithead Baths throughout the week, and children can take part in art activities, take crayon rubbings or simply colour in pictures relating to the museum.

For those interested in what goes on behind the scenes, the Conservation Store will be open every afternoon. Visitors can talk to our conservators about the work they do and see some ongoing projects. While you are here, why not enjoy a meal in our Miners' canteen, or take away a few souvenirs of your visit from our quality gift shop.

Big Pit: National Mining Museum of Wales is open every day 9.30am - 5pm, underground tours run frequently 10am - 3.30pm. Children must be one metre tall to go underground.
