The Stonehouse Off Lighthouse Road, Duffryn

The Stonehouse is a traditional pub with a warm atmosphere and the kind of familiar place that is ideal to go to for a quick bite or a meal out with friends.

There is no dress code and no need to book - you can just pop in when you want a tasty meal at a good price.

My partner and I visited The Stonehouse on a Saturday evening after a busy shopping day. We wanted a relaxing, quiet and relatively quick meal and that is what we had.

The Stonehouse was peaceful, service was friendly and efficient, but not so quick that you couldn't enjoy the food.

For starters my partner and I enjoyed a combo to share which included potato wedges, chicken, breaded mushrooms, tortilla chips and onion rings with dip.

The starter in itself was filling but with lots of different tastes.

For main course my partner and I opted for a traditional mixed grill with steak, gammon, lamb chop, sausage and chips.

This was tasty and both my partner and I had to leave quite a lot because we were so full after the starter and main course.

Despite being full we couldn't resist trying a dessert to sample what was available.

My partner and I both had the triple chocolate heaven, a chocolate cake with ice-cream, which was sweet enough to end the meal perfectly.

At the end of the meal we were both full but we had enjoyed a good quality meal at good prices.

The Stonehouse is now being refurbished so it will be interesting to see the finished results and enjoy another meal in different surroundings. The meal for both my partner and I cost a very reasonable £38.
