Greenmeadow Golf Club, Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran

It's not very often that you can say you've enjoyed a three-course meal while at the same time enjoying a round of golf.

But at Greenmeadow Golf Club in Cwmbran, diners are afforded a great view of the course from the restaurant as they eat, so you can watch a hole in one as you fill a hole in your tum.

The menu may be simple pub fayre but the food is certainly tasty and filling.

I enjoyed a warm creamy potato and leek soup to start, while my girlfriend had her favourite dish of garlic mushrooms, cooked in breadcrumbs just as she likes them.

My main course of gammon steak was delicious, a huge mouth-watering piece of pork, garnished with both egg and pineapple.

My girlfriend again had her favourite dish for main course, vegetable lasagne, and had trouble finishing the generous helping.

For dessert I treated myself to profiteroles while my girlfriend had her favourite dish of strawberry cheesecake.

To say we enjoyed the meal would be an understatement. We both left feeling content and rather full, my girlfriend delighted to have all her favourite dishes on the same menu.

The staff were very attentive, the food was superb and the scenery was stunning.

When a function is on the golf club can get very busy, so be prepared to book in advance.

The bill for two, including drinks and side orders, came to a respectable £35.50.
