Newport County Manager John Cornforth can look forward to a warm reception from fans in tonight's 'Meet The Manager' evening at Newport County AFC social club but the newly appointed boss is still trying to come to terms with the inconsistency of his players despite last night's 6-2 FA Cup win against North Leigh.

"Our performances are in and out at present and at half- time I told the players that the first half was history and I was looking for them to pass the ball quicker.

"We did that and I got the reaction I wanted in the second half when we played some fantastic football with the fullbacks getting forward well.

"I would like to pay tribute to North Leigh who gave us two very good games and I wish them well in the future.

"I am still getting used to the non-league game and sometimes you don't know what to expect from players but despite last night's victory our squad is still thin and I hope to bring in a couple of additions for Saturday.

"I don't like to single out individuals but Gethyn Jones was outstanding and I am pleased to see Jonathan Coates looking more like his old self after his wife's gave birth to their baby daughter last week."

County entertain Carshalton Athletic in a Nationwide South game on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
