NEWPORT County striker Jamie Moralee is certain that he can score the goals to send his side into the next round of the final qualifying round of the FA Cup when County take on North Leigh tonight in a replay at Spytty Park (kick-off 7.45 pm).

County drew 0-0 in the third qualifying round at Hellenic League outfit North Leigh on Saturday, in tough conditions with torrential rains, strong winds and a sloping pitch all playing a part. The winners are away to Tiverton or Eastleigh who also replay tonight.

But Moralee believes things will be different at home and he is backing County to get on a good cup run.

He said: "I am looking to score tonight and I am very optimistic that I will do so, because we are playing so well at the moment. I have been playing for about 16 years in the FA Cup now and Saturday was a real banana skin, make no mistake about it, a difficult game that we came out of with a clean sheet.

"We feel we should have won but we know the job is only half done and we are feeling confident that we can go and finish the job tonight. It is a team game and I am a team player so it doesn't matter to me who gets the goals, but I feel very confident at the moment in myself, I'm loving my football."

Many people tipped veteran Moralee, 33, to be one of the first players out of the door when former manager Peter Nicholas was sacked, but Moralee is keen to make it clear that he is more than happy at County and certain that it is only now that the fans are seeing the best of him.

Moralee, who worked with Nicholas at Crystal Palace and Barry Town before joining County, explained:

"Everyone knows I was a Nicholas player but now John (Cornforth) is in charge and I can't praise him highly enough.

"Last season was my first as a semi-pro and I picked up a lot of injuries by not training as much and I was never fully fit but now I feel great and I want to show the fans the best of me.

"I probably could have gone back to London in the summer but I wanted to stay and show the fans the real Jamie Moralee and now I am as happy as I have ever been at the club and I want to make myself part of the long term future."
