NEWPORT County face yet another FA Cup away day, if they can beat Hellenic League outfit North Leigh in a replay tomorrow night.

County were held 0-0 by the side three divisions below them at the weekend, but a win at Spytty Park tomorrow evening (kick-off 7.45pm) would set up an encounter with either Tiverton Town or Eastleigh in the final FA Cup qualifying round.

These two impressive sides played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Tiverton on Saturday and one of them will be rewarded with a home tie on October 30.

But before County can look to that game they must get the job done against North Leigh, a fact manager John Cornforth is only to aware of.

He said: "Our focus is 100 per cent on North Leigh and myself and the players will not even think about the next round until we get the job finished. We played fairly well on Saturday, created plenty of chances and should have won the game.

"But we didn't manage to kill it off despite being on top for most of the game so now we have to approach the replay professionally and turn our home advantage into a result.

"When I started the job I told the lads that I attache great importance to keeping clean sheets and we have only conceded once in three games, which pleases me and should give the team some confidence.

"We look solid at the back but need to develop a little bit of cuteness and awareness in front of goal and if we manage that tomorrow then we should be fine."

While Cornforth may not be thinking about the next round of the cup, he is plotting for the future and he admits that he is looking to strengthen his squad.

He explained: "I have had a fair chance to look at everyone now and I have been very impressed with the attitude of the squad I have inherited.

"But, I do believe that we could benefit from getting one or two players in over the next couple of weeks to increase the competition for places.

"I am watching games as much as possible at the moment looking for new players and I went to see West Brom reserves last night and will look to see another game this week.

"I am hopeful that in the next couple of weeks we will have something positive to report on that front."

County have no new injury problems ahead of tomorrow's game and Nathan Davies is progressing well after suffering an ankle injury, but he is unlikely to feature.

If the score is level again after 90 minutes then extra time and penalties will be used to settle matters.
