A NEWPORT grandmother, who has been a member of the Conservative Party for more than 50 years, has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Doris Rees, from Langstone, who has lived in the area all her life, marked the occasion with a party for family and friends at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.
Mrs Rees, who has a son and a daughter, both who are in their sixties, said: "There have been many changes in Newport over the decades, but I am not convinced that real improvements have made made, particularly to the shops and services."
And she revealed the secret to a long life is to "lead a clean life and eat the right things."
There were also congratulations from Councillor David Atwell, the Conservative member for Langstone.
