PSYCHEDLIC yet miserable surf sound maestros The Departure make their sonic attack in the Barfly tonight.
While the band's guitarists play like they were in Man Or Astroman the vocalist does a good impersonation of Morrissey.
Their new single Be My Enemy is released on Monday, October 18 with plenty of the above strange juxtaposition.
Razor sharp drums, a ferocious twin guitar reverbed twang, sinewy bass combine with David Jones' distinctive mournful vocals.
Sometimes the guitars also sound the Smiths at their most jaunty and they rattle out at the end like Johnny Marr himself.
Be My Enemy comes hot on the heels of The Departure's Top 30 debut single All Mapped Out and is further proof that they're a band worth getting excited about.
