NEWPORT Gwent Dragons must visit Belfast tomorrow to take on Ulster in the Celtic League with the right attitude or they can expect a hard time from Chris Anderson next week, warns the coach.
"We've got to make sure we're not complacent and that we put wins on wins. Ulster will say 'this is the team that beat Leinster' so it will be tough for us, but these are the challenges we need to confront," he said.
"I enjoyed the game last week and the atmosphere and I can understand the crowd getting excited, that doesn't change the world over. But that's the easy bit at home with the crowd getting behind you and fired up, if you're going to be a good side you've got to do that away.
"It's easy to be fired up at home, away it's about attitude, you've got to dig in and play tough. If the attitude is right we can get the win even if we don't score the same tries as against Leinster because they don't always come.
"We want to make it hard for teams to beat us, it's important to go away with a definite plan. If we do the job right we'll win, but if we don't it's going to be a sad week next week.
"You want to measure yourself against the best like Brian O'Driscoll and Scott Quinnell, there's no value in beating your sister!"
"But if you put the work in you'll beat the best. Our senior players have bought into it, now we've got to get everyone to buy into it. If you're committed and put the work in you'll reap the benefits."
Anderson had an idea of the intensity of the Zurich Premiership at the weekend when he watched the Bath-Gloucester derby, but he wasn't that impressed and says the Dragons can't think about Europe yet anyway.
"It was a scrappy game and their skill levels were no better than ours. I'm not daunted about the task in Europe, we'll be up for it, but I haven't thought about Europe yet," he said.
"If we do we'll get ahead of ourselves, it's one step at a time. Last week was an improvement and we are building momentum, to play with the confidence we did against a quality side was very good.
"But they will be smarting because we beat them earlier in the season and they have suffered some losses at home, but as long as we have the right attitude we should win," he stressed.
* Prop Chris Anthony has suffered a neck injury in training days after recovering from damaged ribs, so the Dragons draft in Gethin Robinson of Newport on the bench. Centre Jon Bryant is still out with a calf strain.
The replacements will be Steve Winn, Gareth Baber, Adam Black, James Richards, Robinson, Peter Sidoli and Ross Beattie.
