Blaenau Gwent is proud to host the Royal Shakespeare Company in the main hall of Ebbw Vale's Sports Centre from October 19-23, 2004.

This will be the first time that the RSC has toured in Wales for five years, when they again played in Ebbw Vale.

For the 2004 tour, the RSC will be performing two plays, Julius Caesar and The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

The two provide a contrasting look into Shakespeare's writing - Julius Caesar is a thriller based around the political situation in Caesar's Rome, whereas The Two Gentlemen of Verona is a comedy dealing with love and friendship.

Both productions have been given a modern overhaul, showing the directors' ability to create something new for the audience whilst still staying true to Shakespeare's original ideals.

Julius Caesar is presented as a political thriller, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona is set in the 1930s, with endless parties.

This is a unique opportunity to see one of the best theatre companies in the world performing right on your doorstep!
