THE Gwent pensioner who died after he was knocked over by a police car in Eastbourne was named as David Lloyd, of Tredegar.
The East Sussex coroner opened the inquest into Mr Lloyd's death on Tuesday.
Mr Lloyd, 83, and his wife, were using a pedestrian crossing near East-bourne Pier when they were struck by the patrol car on Sept-ember 3.
They were both taken to hospital but Mr Lloyd died last Thursday.
Mr Lloyd's identity was confirmed by the Indepen-dent Police Complaints Commission, which is managing the investigation being carried out by Sussex Police.
