Chepstow golfer Liam Bond has made it through to the final stages of Tour School and will now travel to Spain as he attempt to make it onto the money-spinning Euro-pean Tour.
Bond, who is sponsored by Cheltenham firm A & E Fire Equipment, recently returned from the initial stages of tour school, up in North Wales, where he finished in the top 15 after four rounds.
Bond hit two rounds of 75 which left him 112th and out of contention but two awesome rounds of 62 and 67 saw him finish in the top 15.
He now qualifies for the final stages of competition in Spain where he will have to finish in the top 35 out of around 200 golfers.
"The initial stages in north-Wales were very difficult," said Bond.
"It was hurricane type weather and I wasn't too happy about my first two rounds.
"But I pulled it around and now it is all about November.
"I haven't really thought either way about making it or not making I just want to go there and do my best." Bond has been busy over the past few months.
He came fourth in the Phillip Price Mid Wales Open in Pontypridd and fifth in the Welsh professionals competition at Llangollen in recent weeks.
"I've had a good few weeks, but that means nothing now.
"I'll go to Spain and give it my best. I missed out by one shot last year so I know what I am capable of." Bond will travel to Spain with plenty of support.
The Marriott St Pierre golf course in Chepstow, where Bond is a professional, recently held a golf day for him and Eleanor Pilgrim, in order to help raise funds for him to pay for and travel to qualifying school.
"Work have been fantastic and I can't thank them enough," he said.
