DON'T panic and don't write us off after one defeat, urges Newport Gwent Dragons captain Jason Forster going into tonight's Celtic League showdown against champions Llanelli Scarlets at Rodney Parade.
And he says it would be foolhardy to dismiss the Scarlets as well after their even more surprising home setback at the hands of Neath-Swansea Ospreys last week.
The Dragons lost their league opener against Cardiff Blues last week when certain frailties were revealed, particularly in the set pieces and at half back.
But Forster says, "We know we can play a lot better that that, and we hope it will come right tonight. "The Scarlets will be wounded as well so it should be an exciting game.
"Llanelli will be there for the Celtic League and for the run in. You can't write them off, they have been in the forefront of Welsh rugby for a decade.
"But we will still be trying to get their scalp, so it'll be like two wounded dogs going for it hammer and tongs. Even 3-0 will do for us.
"We had an unbeaten home record in the league last season and we have got to recreate that.
"Llanelli have had it for many seasons, we have got to stick together as a group and make sure that gets us through."
Forster believes too many people are rushing to make hasty judgements on the Dragons and new coach Chris Anderson after just one league game.
"We lost twice against Llanelli early last season, so it's very early to make assumptions," he said.
"We've got some new players and a new coach, and we just hope we can put it right. There is no need for anyone to be hitting the panic button, though we are disappointed because we felt we could win.
"Llanelli will be disappointed like us, and it's imperative we keep our home record so we've got to go out there firing. How we get the result is immaterial, as long as we do.
"We weren't composed at Cardiff when we had try scoring opportunities which was our downfall whereas they played the conditions better and scored a couple of bizarre tries. We should have kicked to the corners more.
"But we made Rodney Parade a fortress last year and we hope to maintain it."
