DISABLED children and their friends and family became models for the day as they gave Gwent followers of fashion a rare treat for our Sparkle Appeal.

Children who are set to benefit from the new children's centre to be built at High Cross have spent weeks preparing costumes, posters, banners and decorations.

And 14 Sparkle children and their friends took to the catwalk to show them off in style.

We launched the Sparkle Appeal last December with the aim to raise £250,000 towards the £6 million children's centre to help 1,200 disabled children.

Throughout the school holidays children attended workshops to help create costumes and scenery and last night in front of a crowd of people they modelled their latest creations.

Youngsters Rebecca Maggs and Aisha Mitha, who are set to benefit from the centre and Aisha's sister Amina were among the children who helped to make and paint a special banner to promote the fashion show and enjoyed taking to the stage.

Samba music played to accompany the children as they modelled their own carnival creations.

Also modelled were clothes by Marks and Spencer and La Vinda bridal wear.
