THE king of Hayley Stadium, Wasps skipper Craig Watson, landed another 15-pointmaximum yesterday as the home side recorded its best British Premier League result of the season.

However, the Aussie ace couldn't quite make it six race wins out of six when he was beaten by opposition skipper Shane Parker in a run-off to decide the destiny of the tie's bonus point.

Watson lost the tossfor gate positions against the former Kings Lynn rider, whose fine gateplaced him in command from the very off.

None the less, this Wasps' success was certainly deserved, and while Watson takes the plaudits for yet another convincing maximum, this certainly was no one-man show.

Danish imports Mads Korneliussen and Kristian Lund offered valuable support, Tony Atkindid well considering he's still finding hisway around after such a long lay-off, Czech star Pavel Ondrasik managed three second-placed finishes fromfour rides, while reserveKarl Mason also chipped in.

But Wasps' otherreserve, Boston-based Carl Wilkinson, again demonstrated hislikeness for the tightness of the stadium's 285-metre track by securing paid 13 from five outings, including two heat victories.

After a first-heat 3-3 draw, Wasps took command when Wilkinson and Mason combined to gain a 5-1 second-race maximum, and from that moment on the feeling was that this really was going to be the home side's day.

A series of 3-3s was punctuated by successive 5-1, from Watson and Wilkinson and then Atkin and Wilkinson, and by the start of heat nine the visitors were in enough trouble to send out Parker seeking a golden double.

He failed miserably by finishing in third place as Lund took the chequered flag, and when Glasgow gave number-one heat leader George Stancl the same responsibility in the next race, it seemed likely the Wasps' lead would be reduced considerably.

Amazingly, though, Stancl also came third, and when the Wasps claimed another 5-1 in heat 13 from Watson and Korneliussen, the win was assured.

The same pair took the 15th and final heat, although Watson couldn't quite manage to round the day off with another success.
