Newport County boss Peter Nicholas has shown his side a horror movie to motivate them for tomorrow's Nationwide South clash with Bognor Regis Town at Newport Stadium (kick-off 2.30pm) - a video of the 4-2 Sutton United defeat from last Monday.

It has been an interesting week at Spytty Park with club chairman Chris Blight voicing his disappointment at matters on the pitch, but Nicholas says he has no intentions of having a public slanging match with his chairman, preferring to do his talking behind closed doors and on the pitch.

He said: "Of course it was a disappointing display and result but we got the players in on Wednesday night to watch the video of the game and we have identified where they went wrong. It is up to them to sort it out now.

"I am not going to blame individuals because we win as a team and lose as a team."

He added: "I am not going to go over the top. It has been a disappointing week after a couple of good results but it is far from being disastrous, especially when you remember the start we had last season (when County failed to win any of their first TEN games)."

After a week when Newport went down to Hayes and Sutton and were held to a 2-2 draw at Thurrock, fans have been left wondering if the wheels have came off and after Blight's blast after the Sutton game, some have even started to wonder if a change of manager may be on the horizon.

The names of former boss Colin Addison and even John Aldridge have been thrown around willy-nilly but after only six games, this is unlikely to say the least.

Nicholas is not entertaining such matters and even if he wanted clear the air talks with Blight, that would be impossible - the chairman is on holiday in Spain.

The former Wales international preferred to focus on the more pressing matters of getting three points tomorrow with a squad hit by injuries.

He said: "Scott Young and Lee Phillips are looking extremely doubtful after picking up knocks against Sutton but Jamie Moralee is looking a better bet.

"John Phillips should be okay and Nathan Davies has got a decent chance.

"It looks as though we are going to have to shuffle things round a bit.

"We have apologised to the fans for last week and now we just want to get on with things and take things forward again."

Newport County squad (provisional): Freestone, L Phillips, Aherne-Evans, Davies, Morgan, D Jones, Bowen, Young, Moralee, Wilson-Denis, Coates, Passmore, Williams, G Jones, J Phillips, O'Sullivan, Blackburn.

l The Azerbaijan v Wales World Cup qualifier will be shown in the clubhouse after Saturday's match (kick-off 5pm).
