THE fight to restore the Newbridge Memo continues in earnest again this week.
Supporters of the former cinema and dance hall have rallied their troops again, to decide their next moves.
They have had three weeks in which to accept the disappointment of losing out to Birmingham in the BBC2 Restoration final - with a £3 million prize on offer - earlier this month.
And now they are to discuss the best ways of raising the cash necessary to bring the much loved old building back to its former glory.
Howard Stone, chairman of the Friends of Newbridge Memo, says a meeting is to be held there tomorrow evening at 7.30pm. All members of the public are welcome to attend and discuss the way forward.
"We are looking for people to form small groups who will can arrange fund-raising events, or street collections," said Mr Stone. "We need all the support that we can get.
One of the next events at the Memo will keep the restoration work in his family. For his son Jonathan Stone, who lives in London, is set to bring his band - known as the Monster Raving Boogie Party - to the Memo on Saturday night to raise money for the restoration appeal.
The band - billed as Remember the Memo - hopes to rekindle hazy memories of Sunday rock nights at the hall.
Their set will be drawn from the 70s through to the present day, and will include songs from the likes of T-Rex, Nirvana, The Clash, Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin.
Tickets are £5 and they must be purchased in advance. Telephone the Newbridge Memo on 01495 243252 or Howard Stone on 01495 243691.
