Cardiff is famous for its shopping with its mixture of unique boutiques in Victorian arcades and High Street shops along pedestrianised streets. It all adds up to a varied and pleasurable environment for shopping!

For those looking to indulge in a little retail therapy, Cardiff has plenty to offer. The pedestrianised Queen Street is the hub of the shopping scene, featuring many popular high street stores and easy access to the shopping malls of St David's Centre and Capitol Shopping Centre - home to H&M and Virgin Megastore.

A network of Victorian and Edwardian arcades also shelter some of Cardiff's more specialist stores, where shoppers can discover unique gifts, find funky designer clothes, sample a smoothie and find a bargain in a second hand store.

The latest designer store to grace the city centre is Flannels on Churchill Way, which sells major designer labels such as Prada, Gucci and Burberry.

Cardiff markets are also a popular attraction. During the week the covered central market satisfies most shoppers needs with its offerings of fresh fruit, meats, fish and a wide variety of other goods. For fresh produce on a weekend however, head over to Fitzammons Embankment by the Millennium Stadium, where you will find a thriving farmers market offering a range of fresh Welsh and organic produce. The city centre is also often home to rows of craft tents, packed with handmade gifts, cards and toys, perfect for birthday or Christmas presents.

To further enhance Cardiff's reputation as a shoppers city the new £315 million development of St David's 2 has been given the go ahead, and will feature another major department store to join Howells, as well as dozens of new stores and Mediterranean style piazza's.
