GWENT'S Mark Wallace believes Glamorgan's Totesport glory can spur the side to Frizzell County Championship promotion, starting with a win over rivals York-shire this week.
Glamorgan host Yorkshire at Colwyn Bay in a match starting today and Abergavenny-born Wallace feels the side's one-day triumph can re-ignite the county's promotion bid.
"I think knowing that we don't need to worry about the one-day league anymore means we can really concentrate on getting promotion in the County Championship, and that is what we are all focused on now," Wallace explained.
"We had a bit of a wobble in the four-day game around the time that we lost out in the Twenty20 semi-final but we have come through that now and we are feeling confident again.
"We have not played our best cricket in the past few weeks but we have managed to grind out results and to be honest we feel like a team of winners.
"Our supporters have also been brilliant and they were a big help against Lancashire on Sunday, and they can help us again in the remainder of the season.
"Sunday was a very special occasion indeed and it was fitting that Robert Croft played the pivotal innings, because we all think of him as such an important player.
"I was also delighted that Adrian Dale struck the winning runs, as were all the lads.
"He has been a massive player for Glamorgan for many years and it just seemed right for him to push us past the post."
Simon Jones and Matthew Elliott will return to a buoyant Glamorgan side for the County Championship Division Two match against Yorkshire.
Jones is available after his spell with England, while Elliott is fully fit after resting with minor calf and hamstring problems.
Australian seamer Michael Lewis, a team-mate of Elliott at Victoria, will make his championship debut.
Coach John Derrick insists Glamorgan's focus remains on achieving promotion to the top tier of the championship.
"Notts look like they've got it wrapped up at the top, but there's still second and third place to play for," he said.
"Our priority at the start of the season was to win the league, but if we can't do that we've got to make sure we get promoted."
