Eating Out in the City

Cardiff's cosmopolitan population is reflected in its restaurant scene, with a wide range of restaurants offering flavours from all over the world.

Along with French, Italian, Moroccan and Hawaiian cooking, the development of the Old Brewery Quarter in the city centre means diners can now experience Portuguese peri-peri chicken at Nando's, Spanish tapas at La Tasca, sandwiches stuffed full of Welsh ingredients at Crockertons, spicy curries at Thai Edge, and sizzling BBQ ribs at MaPotter's chargrill. If these tastes are not enough for you, then keep an eye out for Bali, a new Malaysian/Indonesian restaurant that will be joining the Brewery Quarter and also due to open soon will be Cardiff's first conveyor belt style sushi restaurant.

The ranges of tastes are equally matched at Cardiff Bay. From Turkish to Mediterranean and Japanese, there is something for every palette at Mermaid Quay and for those searching for something special, the three Michelin star Tides restaurant offers al fresco dining throughout the summer.

Drinking Out

St. Mary Street is the lively centre of Cardiff's nightlife and is where a large proportion of the cities 350+ bars, pubs and clubs can be found.

Along with the usual boisterous venues found in most city high streets, more stylish bars such as Moloko's or Club 10 can also be found nearby. Cardiff Bay's Mermaid Quay offers a more sophisticated night out, with bars including Terra Nova, Salt and Waterguard all popular spots. No matter where you go however, no visit would be complete without having sampled a pint of Cardiff's very own beer - Brains, brewed in the heart of the city.
