NEWPORT rappers Goldie Lookin' Chain notched their highest chart position yesterday when their second single entered the charts at number three.
Sales of Guns Don't Kill People Rappers Do were high all week and the band was expecting a top ten position.
Manager Conal Dodds said the group were delighted to get to number three.
"Obviously we are all very happy," he said. "The lads were at the V Festival this weekend and they found out just before they were due to go on stage so they were over the moon.
"It's been a great weekend for them."
Mr Dodds also revealed to the Argus that entrepreneur Richard Branson personally met the Newport posse to congratulate them. Someone called them over and said Richard Branson wanted to speak to them. "They were lost for words."
The GLC's first album, Greatest Hits, is released on September 13.
