NEXT Friday is the last in August, which means the summer is pretty much gone.
What blinking summer, I hear you cry? Someplace out there under the same stars (the ones beyond the black clouds) the sun has been shining, turning everyone a nice shade of brown and bringing flowers into bloom.
A club promoter might not be able to bring the weather here (at least not yet - they're trying very hard to make it rain in Shanghai right now) but they can bring the music.
Soul, jazz, funk, Latin and Jamaican rhythms, all music often associated with sunshine, can be found in one place next Friday.
Corner Pocket Soul is a relatively new night. It's to be found in Fontana, Church Street, Cardiff, twice a month.
A few of their cheap drinks and a spirited dance to above-listed sounds will help wash away the memory of this lousy summer and put you in a better frame of mind for the probably rainy weekend. Admission is free. Dial 029 2039 6989 for more info.
