A NEWPORT woman had her handbag snatched from her daughter's car - as they both stood next to it.
Lynette Mitchell said two young boys smashed one of the windows before grabbing the bag, containing £300 cash, and cycling away.
The news comes three weeks after the Argus revealed warnings by Gwent police that thieves are targeting women's handbags left on car seats.
Mrs Mitchell, of Ifton Place, Lliswerry, said: "I'm so frustrated and upset. I wasn't banking on getting the money back, but I want justice."
She said they had parked the Citroen Saxo in Cromwell Road, near the Britannia Motor Co garage, on Friday at about 5.40pm.
"We got out of the car and had our backs to it, so in my mind I hadn't left my bag alone," she said.
"I'd just taken £300 out of the cash point to go on holiday and that was in the bag with my mobile phone, £65-worth of Big W vouchers, my purse with all my cards in, my keys, my make-up and contact lenses."
She said it was a distinctive beige and brown corduroy bag, with leather straps.
"They smashed the triangle-shaped window at the front of the car, snatched the bag and jumped on pedal bikes that were too small for them.
"A gentleman walking past made a 999 call and was talking them through what was happening, and I had to run home to stop my cards." A Gwent Police spokeswoman said the incident is currently under investigation.
