A GROUP of girls took part in a sponsored sack race across the old Severn Bridge.
Wyedean Comprehensive School pupils Charlene Smith, Amy Morse, Isabel Neligan and Ellie Harris took part in the event to raise money for a trip to Uganda next year.
The race, which took them an hour and 20 minutes, raised a total of £340. It puts the girls on course to find the £2,795 needed to go on the month-long trip organised by World Challenge Expeditions due to go ahead in June of next year.
Charlene Smith, 15, from Millreen, Magor, said: "The rain actually helped us because it cooled us down a bit, but I'm glad to have just got it out of the way.
"I'm really looking forward to going on the trip now because it will be like giving something back and will be a chance to experience a different culture."
