ASSEMBLY Member David Davies is celebrating becoming a father after his Hungarian-born wife, Aliz, gave birth to a baby daughter at 3.10am yesterday.
Sophie Abigail Davies weighed 8lb 6oz when she was born at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
Mr Davies, Conservative member for Monmouth, said he was "over the moon", and full of praise for staff at Nevill Hall.
He added: "She was actually two weeks later than expected, so we were a bit worried as to whether she was having second thoughts about coming out.
"She's very beautiful, though, and she's definitely her father's daughter because when relatives were taking pictures she didn't seem to mind at all!"
Mr Davies revealed that little Sophie arrived just in time for his wife's birthday.
"Aliz celebrates her 26th birthday today, so she couldn't have asked for a better present," said Mr Davies.
