RUGBY fans at Newport's Rodney Parade are going to have something new to cheer about this season.
Because the Newport Gwent Dragons are looking for cheerleaders to egg on the team and its supporters, and celebrate its success during matches.
The Dragons and Zero One Studios have teamed up to find a group of girls, over the age of 16, who want to perform at each of the Dragons' home matches.
The Dragons' first match will be on September 17 against the Llanelli Scarlets.
Ceri Jones, from Zero One, who will be choreographing the girls, said: "Whether their hobbies include dancing or gymnastics, they could be the person we are looking for.
"Even if they do not have any experience in dance, but they think that they have the confidence to do it, we would love to hear from them.
"This is an excellent opportunity for young girls in the area, as this is a new adventure and will be an exciting experience for whoever is selected for the squad."
Gethin Jenkins, commercial director at the Newport Gwent Dragons, said: "Cheerleaders are part of bringing all the experience and entertainment for the forthcoming season.
"It is also part of general entertainment for our fantastic supporters, and we want to make matches here a great experience and a fun evening or day out.
"We are very excited here. We have got a new coach, new players to build on the foundations of last year, and all efforts are going to start our season in September."
* If anyone is interested in joining the team they can send a recent photograph and a letter including the contact details and a brief description of themselves to: Zero One Models, 71-73 Lower Dock Street, Newport, NP20 1EH.
