I am delighted to finally have a date set for my next fight and I am relishing the opportunity to get back into the ring, the bottom line is, it has been far too long.

After missing the boat in June with the Glencoffe Johnson fight because of my injury and then him fighting Roy Jones Jnr instead, I became even more determined to get back in the ring and now I can focus on beating my next opponent - whoever that may be.

At the moment I am getting back into training and doing some Press work to promote the fight, which is on October 22 at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, near Edinburgh.

As yet I still don't know who I will be fighting but I certainly don't want to fight Mario Veit again if I can help it.

At the end of the day Veit has won the interim fight and has claims to a title, plus he is undefeated in the last three years, so I guess he is a fairly good fighter.

But I am a class above him and proved that by destroying him in one round the last time we fought in 2001. For that reason I am looking at a new opponent and Frank Warren has a couple of Americans lined up, because he doesn't want the fight with Veit.

It looks like it will be either Scott Pemberton or Kabary Salem and Pemberton's recent form has been pretty good, he beat Omar Sheika who is a tough fighter.

But whichever one of them I fight, I know I will be ready to beat them and I am looking forward to putting on a good show.

I have never had a fight in Edinburgh before, in fact I have never even been to Edinburgh but I am told it is a really nice place. I love fighting in Wales in front of a home crowd but I hope that a lot of my supporters will make the trip up and it will be a really good atmosphere in Scotland.

The last time I made a trip up north was when I fought in Newcastle and that was brilliant, the people up there really appreciated the opportunity to see a world championship fight.

This is the first time that Edinburgh has staged a world championship fight and I think that should generate a fair amount of excitement.

I can also make a little bit of history by beating Chris Eubank's record of title defences and by being the longest reigning British champion. So even though I still want to move up a weight, I am really up for this fight at super-middleweight.

I have seen in the Press that Eamonn Magee is on the comeback trail after the horrific injuries he suffered earlier this year and I couldn't be more pleased for him.

Eamonn has come back from two broken legs and a punctured lung and I don't reckon too many people would have backed him to do that.

But boxers are mentally tough which helps us when we look to make these miraculous recoveries from injury.

Whatever happened to him it would have been a tragedy if his career had finished because of it and when I spoke to him earlier this year he said he was hopeful of coming back, so I am absolutely delighted for him.

Obviously today is a big day in the sporting calendar with the Olympics getting underway and it is a shame that Britain will only have one boxer in the whole of the event. I don't follow amateur boxing as closely as my dad Enzo does but I think it is fair to say that the amateur division is not looking very strong at the moment.

But the qualification process is very drawn out and difficult and we maybe have one or two fighters who would have been good enough if they had been able to get into the competition.

But we do have the one lad, Amir Khan, who is only 17 but by all accounts is a good fighter. Hopefully he can get a couple of wins and maybe even a medal, but the problem is he could end up facing the guy who goes onto win gold in the first round, so it is hard to say how well he will do.
