Harvester Borderer, Malpas Road, Newport
My partner and I wanted a relaxing but tasty meal out midweek and a visit to the Harvester Borderer in Newport certainly gave us both.
It was a Thursday evening and the pub was busy, but after a relaxing drink in the bar and a look at the menu we took our seats still deciding to what choose.
There is plenty to choose from with a little more variety than usual pub food with Mexican and Caribbean influences in the menu as well as traditional favourites.
The whole family is catered for and made extremely welcome.
The service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and attentive, but still gave us space to enjoy our meal.
My partner and I chose the Harvest Feastival for starters, a combo platter with garlic bread, chicken wings and other delights.
This was delicious and gave our tastebuds a treat of things to come.
For main meal my partner and I went for the Plantation Platter for two to share which had roast chicken, chips, breaded mushrooms, corn on the cob and sauces to share.
This again was delicious and was complemented by a free visit to the salad bar for both of us, which anyone can enjoy with a main meal and which is extremely good value.
For dessert we chose the mega fabulous chocolate cake with ice-cream which was sweet and gorgeous, but we were both just a little bit too full to enjoy the whole thing.
The meal was tasty, good value and the service was excellent.
The bill came to £32.85.
