A GWENT man appeared in court today charged with the murder of his former partner.
Postman Mark Redwood, 30, of Almond Avenue, Risca, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and that he understood the charge against him when he appeared before Caerphilly magistrates today.
Prosecutor Claire Phillips said Redwood was charged with murdering 24-year-old Newport woman Natalie Cain on or between July 28 and 31 this year.
Redwood's solicitor, Keith James, made no application for bail. Remanding Redwood in custody, magistrates committed the case against him to Newport crown court where he will appear on August 19.
Mrs Cain, who was from Corporation Road, was found dead from stab wounds at Redwood's home on July 31.
