GLAMORGAN captain Robert Croft has urged his beleaguered side to get back on the boil after a crushing defeat in Saturday's Twenty20 semi-finals at Edgbaston.
On the hottest day of the year Glam's season looked far more likely to fizzle than sizzle after a lacklustre display in the 21 run defeat at the hands of eventual winners Leicestershire, who beat Surrey in the a thrilling final later that evening.
Glamorgan travel to Kent today in the Totesport National League and Croft is aware that things need to improve and quickly.
"We didn't play to the standard we are used to and we are extremely disappointed with how we played," he explained.
"But our form in this competition has been encouraging and we must look on the positives and keep going because we have a lot still to play for this season."
Glamorgan are top of the National League and third in the second tier of the County Championship chasing promotion, but the form they showed at the weekend was concerning.
In a fabulous sun-soaked, action packed day of edge of the seat cricket that lasted eight hours, Glamorgan - who have made such a huge impact in Twenty20 competition this year - never got out of first gear.
Surrey had already edged out Lancashire in a thrilling early semi-final by-the time Glamorgan took to the field having lost the toss, and the stage looked set for a cracking contest.
However, by the time the fielding restrictions had been lifted at the six over mark Leicestershire had already plundered 62 runs with Darren Maddy in imperious form, hitting a huge cut over long on for six runs off Alex Wharf's first ball.
Darren Thomas also felt the pinch after he was clattered by Leicestershire's Aussie skipper Brad Hodge for three successive fours.
However, once Robert Croft introduced himself and turned to a slower bowling attack Glamorgan started to recover.
First Croft removed Hodge and then Adrian Dale finally took the wicket of Maddy who scored 72 off 40 balls, including four six's and six fours.
Glamorgan began to bowl a better length and restricted Leicestershire to 165-5, which looked an achievable if difficult score.
However, they got off to the worst possible start when Mark Cleary had Matthew Maynard caught on the boundary at mid-wicket.
Cleary then took Thomas for three and Glam were reeling on 20-2 and when superb stump work by Paul Nixon saw Matthew Elliott run-out, Glamorgan looked buried.
Mark Wallace, Darren Thomas and particularly David Hemp (who hit a fluent 44 including one huge six) looked to lead a recovery but Glam were always on the back foot and never really looked like chasing the imposing total.
Wickets continued to fell regularly and Glamorgan still needed 21 runs off 11 balls when Matthew Elliott was caught on the boundary to end Glam's Twenty20 dream for this year.
