In round eight of the Magic Dragon Series, the Port Talbot Ten, Pugh was the leading Cwmcarn rider, recording 22min 45sec for 16th overall.

l Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas continued his excellent season by clinching the World Scratch Race Championship in Los Angeles.

With less than two laps to go the junior rider was in trouble as he was boxed in by opponents he had already lapped, but still managed to cross the line as champion.

Thomas' junior title adds to two others won by seniors at the World Track Championships in May when Jamie Staff and Chris Hoy took titles.
