THERE were children's books before the repetitive adventures of Harry Potter, and a new show coming to Cardiff this week dramatises one of the best.
Tom's Midnight Garden, originally written by Philippa Pearce and adapted by David Wood, is the story of two children separated by the intangible divide of time.
A young boy sent to stay with his aunt and uncle in their creaky old house discovers that when their grandfather clock strikes thirteen, he is transported back to the Victorian era.
And in a wonderful secret garden there he meets an orphan called Hatty, who becomes his friend and a companion on a series of magical adventures.
Performed by the Birmingham Stage Company, Tom's Midnight Garden is at the New Theatre, Cardiff from Tuesday to Saturday. For tickets or more information call the box office on 02920 878889.
